aryland's strongest industries reflect China's fastest growing sectors

Biotechnology & Health Care
Maryland is home to one of the five largest biotechnology industry clusters in the world. China is home to Asia's fastest growing life sciences and pharmaceuticals industry sectors.

Advanced Technology
Maryland's aerospace; computer modeling, encryption, gaming and simulation software; and satellite, wireless and fiber optics communications clusters are among the industries' strongest. Over 1/3 the world's leading technology companies have established physical operations-manufacturing, sales, marketing, R&D and, increasingly, management-in China.

Logistics & Distribution
Maryland's geographic location and transportation infrastructure provide ten-hour-drive access to 1/3 the U.S. market. China is the world's largest exporter of consumer goods, as well as of communications and information technology products

Investment
Maryland is headquarters to two of the world's major investment services companies, as well as regional and support operations of many of Wall Street's largest entities. Over the next generation, Shanghai, China aims to compete with Hong Kong and Tokyo as Asia's financial capital.
