Maryland Secretary of State John P. McDonough led a delegation
of more than 25 Maryland-based business and government representatives
on the Maryland China Mission 2010, August 29 – September 10,
2010. During the 13-day visit, the delegation will visit Shanghai,
Beijing, Anhui’s capital Hefei, and Xiamen for a series of business
meetings, networking and one-on-one matchmaking sessions. The
Mission’s chief goal is to promote business and trade opportunities
between Maryland and China.
On August 31, Maryland Center China hosted a ‘Maryland China
Mission 2010 - Shanghai Reception’ for the Secretary of State
and other delegation members at JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai at
Tomorrow Square. More than 170 honorable guests from Shanghai
government, US Consulate General Shanghai, business leaders both
in China and USA as well as friends of Maryland attended the reception.
The reception received great support and sponsorship from: Black & Decker, United Family, Marriott, Wall Street English, Smith
School, MPEG LA, General Plan, Modegia, John S. Connor, and Discovery.
Ning Shao, Chief Executive of Maryland Center China hosted the
dinner reception, and Secretary of State John McDonough, Baltimore-Xiamen
Sister City Committee Chairman Fontaine Bell and Principal Commercial
Officer of US Consulate General Shanghai William Brekke gave speeches
separately.
