The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development
(DBED) offers hands-on assistance to Maryland companies as they
seek to identify and capitalize on international business opportunities.
The export assistance programs are designed to help Maryland SMEs
to seek development overseas, which include Work Order and Export
MD.
The Work Order program is developed to enable MD companies to
access the foreign markets. Each Work Order assigned to China
will receive up to 20 hours free service provided by Maryland
Center to conduct market research, locate matching distributors
or arrange visits to China.
Export MD is a grant program that offers small and mid-size business
monetary and consulting assistance for specific international
marketing initiatives. This includes reimbursement of 50 percent
of project costs up to $5000 and/or 80 hours of service from a
DBED foreign trade representative in the targeted market.
Maryland Center has worked for almost 360 Maryland companies on
more than 280 Work Order and Export MD projects during the last
10 years since the launch of the programs.
